Nicholas Goodman – Bio
director, producer, writer, editor
For the past four years I have produced and edited the Cecil B. De Mille Lifetime Achievement Award for the Golden Globe Awards on NBC for Dick Clark Productions honoring recipients Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman, Jodie Foster and the 2014 honoree, Woody Allen. I directed and produced a music video for the song “Eve” by recording artist Rebecca Jordan (composer, Kelly Clarkson’s Beautiful Disaster) that premiered on American Songwriter with a promotional tie-in and contest from Milani Cosmetics. The video now hits the festival circuit, premiering at HollyShorts (Los Angeles) with stops at the Macon Film Festival (Georgia), Yonkers Film Festival (New York), Berlin Independent Film Festival (Germany), and the Rincon Film Festival (Puerto Rico).
My film, Stigmata .44, a cautionary tale about children and guns, won the Audience Award at the Uppsala International Short Film Festival and aired on KTTW (Chicago), KQED (San Francisco), and KPBS (San Diego). The short mash up of the indie hits “Swingers” and “Sling Blade” that I produced and directed, entitled Swing Blade, became a cult smash, getting positive notice from the Los Angeles Times, TV Guide, Movieline, and People Magazine, and aired on Bravo, Encore Movies, and Britain’s Film 4. It was released by Rhino Films theatrically as a short attraction before the comedy Plump Fiction, and by Miramax Films on the Swingers Collector’s Edition DVD (now on Blu Ray). This attention led to development deals at Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment. I have been a film festival judge for Red Rock Film Festival and MethodFest, and if you ever wondered who edited those trailers for films such as Jack Reacher, The Colony, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Sweeney Todd, Minority Report, and Sin City, to name a few, that was me, too. My debut feature, Canine Instinct, has screened in festivals worldwide, recently winning Best Feature Documentary at the Burbank International Film Festival.
